Today was the Memorial Day holiday here in the U.S., a day that we honor those who served our country. We remember those who sacrificed their lives so that we may have our “freedom”.
I’d like to get into a long and philosophical discussion on why I put the word “freedom” in parenthesis. However, that would be way beyond the scope of what this blog is about. All I know is that freedom for me is really a state of mind. You can be “free” no matter where you live and nobody has to sacrifice their lives in order for us to truly have freedom.
Regardless, I believe that sacrificing your life really is the ultimate service. Many of us work to make money and that’s it. People in the military work in high risk areas knowing that they may not make it out alive.
So the next time you start complaining about how bad your job is, think about those brave men and women who gave their lives for the U.S.
