Starting a Business: This I Have Learned
When I first started researching what type of business to start, my first thought was, "What kind of business will make me the most money?"  I'm sure many of you probably were thinking the same thing.

I also learned something new today:  Get Unambiguous and Get More Customers.  After you've discovered what you can offer to the world, you have to be clear in your vision and be able to communicate those offerings to your customers.

Did you learn anything new today?

Hi Maria

Logging on in Hyderabad today - have to say I do agree with a lot of your observations in this post. I set up capable people last september and will definately say that you cannot be too fixed about too many things. Us startups learn as we go and in our early days everything is a work-in-progress. However I did do some research on "brand" at the outset. Strong brands are unambiguous and consistent and that breeds trust. We do not trust ambiguous or inconsistent people, and people treat brands in the same way. Lying and stretching the truth may well be common in business, but the more of this you do, the harder it is to maintain your consistency. Basically it is easier to be consistent if you stick to the truth. I try to work like this and, so far, it seems to be working

Well said, Shaun! I agree, it is hard to be consistent if you're constantly "stretching the truth" to make a profit or to cover your imperfections and mistakes. Most people can sense a fast talker when they see one.
