The Forbes Billionaire List, Success, and Giving Back
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a billionaire?  I have - plenty of times.  Just like many people, I'm fascinated with the accumulation and distribution of gargantuan wealth.  You may recall that I asked what you would do if you were a billionaire.  One of the reasons I asked the question was to see if you have the capacity to think big.  Some of the people I admire, like Warren Buffett and Oprah Winfrey are billionaires who, without a doubt, are big thinkers.

And speaking of big thinkers...Forbes just came out with their list of world billionaires and no, Bill Gates isn't at the top this year!  Warren Buffett has made it to the top with his savvy investing skills.

One of the things I think is important to consider if you want to become a billionaire is:  What would you do with that money to be of better service to the world?  Perhaps the social-economic gap between rich and poor is increasing (although it seems the same to me), so what steps do we need to take to make things equal?

Browsing through the list I see that the Waltons who own Walmart are #26 on the list and Michael Dell sits at a comfortable #40.  I've written about Walmart's and Dell's customer service time and time again.  These billionaires made their money by serving people within a specific niche.  The Waltons provided products at low prices and Michael Dell provided computers at competitive prices.  How these individuals are managing their business and keeping their customers happy is another story!  Nonetheless, they found a way to help people.

We've all been given the skills and resources to create successful businesses.  However, what I think really makes you successful is what you do after you've made that money...Remember that the ultimate service is giving back to the community!

Here's a video of Warren Buffett and the Gates talking to Charlie Rose about giving back (It's about an hour long)...
