What Would You Do With a Billion Dollars?
As I read David Krug's post about billionaire bloggers, I started thinking again about the reasons why I blog.  As a person who would like to become a billionaire someday, I wonder if I would still be blogging about customer service when I do make those billions...probably so.  Here's what I would do if I had a few billion dollars right now:
  • Blogging-Quote.png I would start a school that strictly focused on teaching people about customer service
  • I would start an airline that offered phenomenal customer service (God knows we need it!)
  • I would start a department store chain that would rival Nordstrom
  • I would start a coffee company (watch out Starbucks!)
and the list goes on and on...

What would you do if you had a billion dollars?  Are you blogging to change the world?  Would you still blog if you had all the money you need?

Well, if I become a millionaire one day, I think I'd build an orphanage for all the street kids in Asia. Yeah. I think that is what I would do. Of course, I would buy my own mansion first before that.

Maria,

Another great post. Sent me off daydreaming for a moment. If I had a billion dollars, I'd...

Buy a home with plenty of yard for my daughter and me (elbow room is at a premium here in Delaware) and the rambunctious husky puppy I'd be buying the same day

Take her (the daughter, not the pup) to Ireland, where I've been promising we'll go soon anyway

Give a bundle of money to one of my favorite non-profits, Child, Inc., enough so they can fully fund the efforts they have going on now and really expand their reach, too

Give back to some special people who'd do the same for me if they had the billion

Since it's a billion, I think I'd get a nice pied-a-terre in Toronto, too

Expand my business

And yes, I'd still be blogging! I'm absolutely obsessed with growing businesses through Experience Design!

Regards,

Kelly

Oh, dear, I can't resist a P.S.

Some ladies want shoes, but I want TOOLS. I'd make Norm Abrams look like a hobbyist. That's the kind of a gal I'd be with a billion dollars.

: )

Hi Jay -- Yes, giving back to the world is one of the things I put on the list. I want to do something like Oprah did and build a school for future leaders.

Kelly -- Thanks for sharing your list! I'd love to have a Husky too :)

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a billionaire?  I have - plenty of times.  Just like many people, I'm fascinated with the accumulation and distribution of gargantuan wealth.  You may recall that I asked... [Read More]
