Is Google Listening to Its Customers?
I'm angry.  Very angry.  I noticed a serious decline in traffic on a couple blogs of mine - mainly this one here you're reading and another Know More Media blog that I write on, The Runway Scoop.  I took a look at statistics on these blogs the other day and noticed that Google has virtually cut them off from the search results.

Google%20logo.jpgThis Google saga has been going on for a little while now and as a Google investor I find it very frustrating.  How can I support a company that appears to be doing more harm than good to my online businesses?  Oh, I'm angry.

The staff here at Know More Media is in the process of contacting Google to clear up this matter. Is Google listening?  Well, we'll just have to see.

However, as I ponder more on this little bump on the road, I realize that I'm not practicing what I preach.  What I should be focusing on is providing quality content for my readers, customers, and subscribers - not complaining about what Google is doing to my blog.

Do readers care about the numbers?  No.  Then I shouldn't either.  Therefore, no more talk about Google pagerank and the decline in traffic.  However, I will report back to let you know if Google responds to Know More Media's requests.  Stay tuned!

Sorry to hear about this, Maria. When your livelihood depends on building a reputation and all of a sudden that foundation is ripped out from under you, it does not seem fair at all. Do the Know More Media blogs carry advertising that would compete with Google Ads? I note there are a tremendous of ads on these sites - even in the message text.

Maria, it's really bad because I did a search in Google for "Customers Are Always" and the first listings did not provide your site. When I clicked on the first one it took me to a site where you had commented to another blog. I clicked on your name and it brought me here. That shows the decline in your blog listing with Google and why your traffic is so low.

Yes, I believe that Know More Media has advertising that competes with Google. I'm pretty sure that's the cause of this little problem. Thanks for the information!!

Oh, well...I'm moving on ;)

Maria, as your editor and friend, I'm mad right along with you. We did nothing to deserve the treatment Google gave us and are working hard to fix the problem. If you need to talk anytime just let me know.

You are a fantastic blogger and none of this is your fault. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Hi Easton,

I appreciate the support and the kind sentiments...Something good will come out of this! I'm learning not to depend so much on Google ;)

Thanks Maria -- I hope KMM continues to communicate with Google and with its daily bloggers - to help us win back benefits from all the hard work we all lost to this process. I hope we hear details and can help to resolve the very problems many of us write about:-)

This is an interesting time in the blogging world - and many of us applauded the open communication that blogging allowed. Now the test!

Several years into the hard work -- it is time to ask new questions and work with progressive leaders - who care genuinely about writers, integrity and shared visions.

That new progress also takes experts at the helm -- and visibility in the ranks.

Together we can do it - but it will require a new kind of dynamic -- one that fits the difficult place we find ourselves in. One can can win concrete benefits for all sides!
