Creating an Authentic Customer Experience

One of my favorite places to hang out in San Diego is the downtown area.  During a recent shopping excursion I walked by Masala, a fairly new
restaurant on 5th Avenue.  I wasn't particularly hungry, but a craving for a nice glass of wine led me to walk into the restaurant.  The minute you walk into the restaurant you are immediately transported into a part of South Asia reserved for people with exquisite taste.

Besides myself, the only other patrons were a party of six enjoying the restaurant to themselves.  After deciding on a white wine, I sat down on a comfortable couch in the lounge area.  A Bollywood movie was playing on the flat-screen TVs set up Masala%20Restaurant.jpgin a couple corners of the restaurant.  I relaxed and enjoyed the ambience... It was an authentic Indian experience. (At least that's what it felt like to me.  I haven't been to India yet!)

What are you doing to create an authentic experience for your customers?  Are you giving them the maximum experience?

By the way, here are more reviews of Masala Restaurant...

I enjoy places that take me to another world, too, Maria!

Hi Robyn,
It's even better when the service is good too! Thanks for dropping by ;)

Maria,

Thanks for the shout-out above. Restaurants are one of my special obsessions. The opportunities for Maximum Customer Experience are so easy for any business owner (or customer!) to relate to.

Sometimes thinking about the impact of Experience Design at a restaurant that you view as your secret source can lead to the aha! moment... "Aha! I can do this for my customers, too, even if my business is an auto body shop, a dentist's office, or a liquor store."

Sounds like Masala really envelopes you in atmosphere. I hope the service was as welcoming as the interiors!

Regards,

Kelly
