Former senator and federal prosecuter George Mitchell will be releasing what he calls "The Mitchell Report" this Thursday.  This report is part of a 20-month investigation of steroid use in Major League Baseball (MLB).  It'll be interesting to see what 50 names are released in this report.  Read more about it at ESPN or The New York Times.

I don't keep tabs on the baseball league to offer my opinion on the actual report, however, what I find fascinating that these players get paid millions of dollars from their fans/customers and they disappoint them by getting involved in illegal drugs or activities.  For you football fans, you may have heard about Michael Vick's 23-month jail sentence for dog-fighting and supposedly, bad loans which was announced just the other day. 

Sports players have an obligation not only to the organization that hires them to play, but they also have an obligation to their fans to conduct themselves with the utmost honesty and integrity.  No matter what business you are in, cheaters never prosper.  It's just bad business.  You lose the trust of your fans and in the long-run, affect the organization's bottom-line and your bottom-line!
