Recently the US News and World Report named the America's best high schools. Determining these best high schools was a three-step process which included:
1. A measurement of how each school's students performed on state tests
2. A measurement of how each school's disadvantaged students performed
3. How successful each school was in providing college-level coursework
I think it's important that high school students do good on state tests, but do these types of tests actually help in their future success? What about instilling values such as kindness, real life problem solving, and a sense of service in our high school students? I know it would be difficult thing to measure, but what
about ranking schools based on how involved these students are in the community or in team building? If you ask me, these factors are better at determining success.
I know this is going to sound very cliche, but I'm going to say it anyways: Our future is our children! What do you want the future of customer service to look like?
