Exceeding Customers Expectations: Just Do It, Don't Say It
Here's a great conversation I came across via When Customers Rule! Nick over at FusionBrand wrote a couple years ago that "exceeding expectations" is a stupid strategy.  

Shubhadeep of When Customers Rule! believes that we should exceed customers' expectations and I do wholeheartedly agree.  However, the problem that arises Expectations.jpgwhen you tell customers via advertising or marketing that you "exceed expectations" is that every customer has different expectations.  I could walk into a restaurant and expect the waiter to kiss my feet (and I do expect that...ha!) and another customer could walk in and just expect a nice, warm meal. 

I also agree with one of the comments that you shouldn't even be telling customers that you'll exceed their expectations because as most of you know, lip service doesn't mean anything.  It's action that counts.  Just do it, don't say it.
