
I'm sure many of you know about the "Golden Rule". It states that you should treat others like you want to be treated. Don't you think this should be the first rule of customer service?
But what exactly does it mean to follow the Golden Rule and how do you apply it in your life and the work that you do?
Zen Habits has an excellent article titled 18 Practical Tips for Living the Golden Rule. Tip #1, "Practice Empathy", is something that I've been working on for the past couple years. When I see myself starting to make a judgment on someone, I stop to put myself in their shoes and think about what could possibly be happening in their life right now.
