
These questions arise after reading the news about the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike against General Motors (GM) that started today at 11 a.m. EST. The issue is over health care benefits and UAW President Ron Gettelfinger is in negotiations for an estimated $51 billion in health care expenses for retirees and their family members to union-controlled trust funds.
This leaves GM without a workforce that makes about 12,200 vehicles a day. How's that for hurting the bottom line?
