Anticipating the Release: "Influencer: The Power to Change Anything"
Yesterday I watched a rerun of the Oprah Show where the topic was "Giving" and how each and every one of us has the power to make a difference in the world.  Whenever I watch Oprah I always think about the influence and power that she has - much like Princess Diana - as I mentioned in yesterday's post.  Not a day goes by that I don't think about the things that I can do to make a difference.

Bill Clinton was on the Oprah show that aired yesterday and he said something that really stuck in my mind:  "It's not so much what I'm called, but what I'm called to do..."

Some of you are working your customer service job and think that your job is meaningless, but did you know that you also have that power to make a difference in people's lives?  Think about all those people you come in contact with on a daily basis... You of all people actually have more of an advantage and the power to influence people.  That "meaningless job" is part of your calling and you don't even know it!

Another person I deeply admire is Mahatma Ghandi whom Tim Stay writes about.  Ghandi is a prime example of how words, not wealth, can alter the course of the world and change the lives of people for years to come.

So, when I heard about the upcoming book, Influencer: The Power to Change Anything, I knew that this would be the perfect book for those of you who, like me, want to make a difference in this world through the work that you are currently doing.

The book was written by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, David Maxfield, Ron McMillan, and Al Switzler of the company VitalSmartsJoseph Grenny, one of the authors said: "Our new book describes vital work done by the most influential social scientist of the past 50 years who have shown repeatedly that most any behavior can be changed if you just know how to do it. In addition, we've traveled over 100,000 miles to report first-hand about the miraculous work of some quiet but brilliant influencers who have solved world-scale problems in world-class ways—by influencing the behavior of millions of human beings. The stories are astounding and the principles are life changing. We've felt a tremendous sense of responsibility to do justice to these ideas. I hope we came close. You be the judge! We believe this book will be very impactful and inspirational--it discusses scores of amazing people from all walks of life, business, and nationality, who have made real changes in this world, who have answered the question 'How can one person change the world?'"

» Is "Influencer: The Power To Change Anything" the Next Big Business Title? from WorkFromHomeMomma
Have you wondered about the new business book, Influencer -- The Power To Change Anything? The book will be hitting markets soon, and this post gives you a peek at the book's subject matter. [Read More]

Thanks so much for paying attention to our book.

In Influencer we’re trying to bring a whole lot of very solid research in psychological and organizational behavior to bear onto a class of problems we describe as “profound, persistent, and resistant.

Profound – important personal, family, business, or societal problems.
Persistent – longstanding self-perpetuating situations—the kinds of problems that require more than a sincere commitment to change. For example, your son is addicted to drugs or your business has a chronically poor safety record. With these kinds of problems a sincere commitment to change is just the starting point. Then the hard work begins.
Resistant – people have already tried a variety of solutions, but the problem has just bounced back. These problems require a lot more hard work than people realize—but they can be solved and the benefits are enormous.

This focus on profound, persistent, and resistant problems makes this book different from many of the psychology and influence books you may have read—books that focus on getting someone else to say “YES!” You might say our book picks up where they leave off. After the person has said, “yes” we show how to turn that commitment into positive results.

I hope you enjoy your reading!

David Maxfield
