Macy's Makes My Blood Pressure Rise
How do you feel about Macy's spending $100 million on an advertising campaign?  The company is enlisting a myriad of celebrities for this new campaign in order to establish "brand recognition".  I don't know about you, but I'm a little bit disturbed.  Just a little.  What about being recognized for offering great service?

What about investing that money in their people by offering better wages and putting more customer service reps on the floor? I walked through a Macy's notmacys.com too long ago and I didn't even come into contact with one rep.

No wonder Macy's profits are at a 77% decline for the 2nd quarter!

You're absolutely right! Just because Donald Trump or Martha Stewart are in a Macy's commercial doesn't mean I'm going to rush right over to Macy's and shop with them!

Rob,

Don't you love those scripts? What about just a simple thank you for calling? I know, I sound so cynical...

A few weeks ago I mentioned that Macy's was coming out with a new "star-studded" ad campaign.  It features many well-known names like Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Russell Simmons, Usher, and Jessica Simpson - just to name a few.&nbs... [Read More]
