Greg Howlett of Marketing Pilgrim has an interesting post about SEO and internet retailers. As a person who conducts business online, I think it’s important to have some type of search engine strategy to get to the top of the search results. However, just because you get to the #1 spot in Google only means your sales will increase for the short-term - unless you provide excellent customer service!
For those of you who are not familiar with internet business, SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization”. My layman definition for SEO is: tweaking your website code so that search engines can easily find your website. If you’re curious and need further explanation, I recommend reading the Wikipedia definition of SEO.
Sure, the big retailers could spend the money to make sure their websites are optimized for the search engines, but if the service is not up to par, you certainly aren’t going to receive the repeat business!

I've thought about doing SEO but decided I don't know enough yet. Hopefully my blog can still be successful!
