
For me, grocery shopping isn't much of an interactive customer experience. You go in the store, find what you need (most of the time), pay for your items and then leave. Sometimes you have to hunt somebody down if they're out of stock on an item, but other than that, well, it's a relatively mundane experience.
But what if you could walk into a grocery store and have someone there who can answer questions about products and even offer menus to help you with your
meals? Tesco, a supermarket chain in the UK, has added a new member to the staff - the "customer assistant". This person will be there to help customers find what they need, collect feedback from customers, and keep them informed about specials going on in the store.
Well, it's about time a grocery chain come up with this concept!
Tesco will be opening up stores in California, Arizona, and Nevada in the fall. It'll be interesting to see how they do here because it seems like California already has enough supermarket chains! If the customer service is as good as Tesco says it will be, then maybe they will be successful...
