
I recently signed up for Blockbuster's online rental program and I've loved the service so far. I get movies by mail and the best part - being able to turn the movie into a local store in exchange for a free in-store rental. There was only one time that I didn't receive a movie, but when I emailed Blockbuster about it, they mailed it again in a jiffy.

I knew it wouldn't be long before Netflix executives would get their panties in a bunch trying to figure out what they could do to compete with Blockbuster (BBI). Netflix (NFLX) finally decided that it would improve customer service and lower fees, but then Wham, the website goes down along with it's stock price. Perfect timing because now Netflix knows that there needs to be some kind of backup plan for events like this....

the thing you like the most - the stores exchanging your returned movies - is the very thing that blockbuster just changed. it's altering the program and raising prices by as much as $7.00 a month.
