Most of us have been sucked into a job that isn’t in alignment with our interests or passions because we’ve settled - settled for something that will pay the rent or bills. Sometimes we go into it thinking it will be just for a little while, but end up in a rut.
If this sounds like you, well, you must visit Pursue the Passion. Follow three guys as they journey across the U.S. and interview passionate people. Their blog has some great insight as to why people don’t pursue their passion. It’s interesting to note that most people aren’t doing what they love because of the lifestyle factor. I completely agree.
When I was laid off after 9/11 (I worked in the travel industry), I really started thinking about my purpose and passions. It was then that I realized that being my own boss was the only way to go - no more worries about being laid off, that’s for sure. I lived off rice Ramen and turkey legs for about six months, but it all worked out ;)
If you can get over your fears and just take the risk, I know that you, too, will end up in a position where you will be so happy doing what you do! Just stay focused on helping people and you’ll find that people will start helping you. It’s definitely worth it.
