
If you've followed this blog for some time, you've probably noticed that I talk about Macy's pretty often. I had a short stint with the company and I learned quite a bit in that month of being behind the scenes in a department store. At Nordstrom I learned what to do and at Macy's I learned what NOT to do.
Not too long ago a Macy's assistant buyer left a comment (see Don't Macy's Executives Know the Key to Success?) regarding the improvements that they're working on as far as customer service, so we'll have to just wait and see...I do like to shop at Macy's because of the great selection of clothing, so I am anxiously awaiting to see if they do indeed improve. The company just recently announced that they are moving out of newspaper advertising and will focus more on TV and internet advertising - which is fine, but many of us already know about Macy's. Why not take some of that advertising money to hire more people for their salesfloor? Or how about paying their people a little bit more? How about spending more time training their associates?
