Taking away YouTube and MySpace is like taking away a person’s break or lunch time. Ok, maybe we don’t necessarily need YouTube or MySpace like we need lunch, but these websites help people communicate with friends and family or perhaps they help the troops relax and just get away from the chaos of their working life.
It’s an absolute dis-service to take away the things that connect us with people. Sure, there’s email, Facebook, blogs and other tools to communicate, but YouTube and MySpace are pretty big! If the government can take away these two websites, who knows what they’ll do next!
I totally understand the need for security, but people could easily go a computer outside the network and release secured information, so don't give me that excuse. And as far as bandwith and viruses are concerned, you really think the Department of Defense doesn't have the resources to combat that? Hmmm, probably not since they let 9/11 happen!! (Ok, I'll stop before I go into a full-on rant...)
These are the types of things that cause resentment within an organization. This is why we have bad service! Would you like it if your company banned access to your email? Don't you think you'd be just little bitter and take it out on the customer?
Do you think this would affect the troops who rely on these modes of connection?
