A friend of mine has some thoughts on customers and customer service that he wanted to share:
We as a society seem to believe that Customer Service is a one way street. As customers we usually expect to be 'Picked Up' by a kind word or the smiling face of a Customer Service Rep. It is equally important for us as customers the be 'The Drivers' on many occasions.
We as Customers need to take the initiative and offer a kind word or greet the Service Agent with a smiling face, because they deserve to feel appreciated as well. I am in the service industry, so I realize that it is very important to approach customer service agents with a positive attitude because that positive energy and courtesy is usually reciprocated.
Let's not feel that since we are spending money at an establishment that it is our inherent right to be treated with respect and courtesy. We must first check our own energy levels when entering the establishment because if we are emenating negative or low energies, that energy will usually be reflected in how we are treated a patrons. ![]()
We must learn to appreciate and respect Customer Service Reps because they deal with a myriad of personalties. They are sponges who absorb the energies of so many different individuals during the course of a day and sometimes it is very difficult to remain upbeat and positive for a whole shift.
Let's make it our responsibility as patrons to extend a kind word or put a smile on the face of at least one customer service rep per day. Get in the driver's seat and watch the magic happen because We All have the right to be driven.
