GoDaddy Hate Turns Into GoDaddy Love
I’m sure many of you are familiar with those GoDaddy.com commercials that started a couple years ago.  They aired during the SuperBowl and caused quite ruckus.  I was a little offended by the commercials because they used some sexy hot chick to market web hosting - but then, I can understand that GoDaddy wanted to capture the interest of the testosterone-filled men that watch the SuperBowl.

Bob Parsons, the CEO & Founder of GoDaddy says this on his blog about the company’s marketing:

“GoDaddy-esque (i.e. fun, edgy and a bit inappropriate) marketing to promote ourselves, the answer is also simple: It draws sharp attention to the company. In a nutshell, it works.”
Yes, GoDaddy’s advertising does draw attention, but it’s how you treat your customers that will determine if your company survives.  I thought to myself that I wasn’t going to support a company that used this type of tactic to get customers.  However, somehow I ended up on their website the other day browsing their domain marketplace.  Next thing you know I spontaneously buy a couple domains.

Suddenly I felt like that kid sneaking to take a peek at Daddy’s dirty magazines.  I felt guilty.  I went against my values….

Then I received a voicemail from GoDaddy.  It erased any previous feelings I felt towards the company.  The call came from Darwin who wanted to thank me for choosing GoDaddy and invited me to call him if I had any questions or concerns.  In no way did it sound like a “scripted” message and his tone was very welcoming.
Well, so far I have to give GoDaddy a thumbs up!  I’ve been a customer of Yahoo! Web hosting for many years and never once did I get a personal call to thank me for doing business with them!

I like godaddy for domains purchases. I have about 4 domain names and I use 2 of them. They are very helpful when you need them. I called once regarding the transfer of a domain and was pleasantly surprised that I actually go a person instead of a canned message. They're awesome. I just purchased another domain last night.
