Well, one of the employees in the hotel restaurant told them that according to “company policy”, they couldn’t deliver food to their room. The employee passed the phone to the manager who told her about the same “company policy” and that they were short-handed. However, Esther insisted that she really didn’t want to have to wait - she just wanted to enjoy her food and not rush through lunch. Finally, the manager told her, “Ok, we’ll do our best to accommodate you.”
We assume that the manager finally realized that instead of wasting all that time arguing with Esther about “company policy”, it was easier to just deliver the food. It saved each of them time and energy sitting there on the phone!
