
- Creating and promoting diversity by providing items based on the neighborhood demographics. Here in San Diego it’s very common to have an aisle dedicated to Mexican and Asian foods.

- Providing personal shopping assistants by way of handheld devices that allow you to download your shopping list and helping you locate items in the grocery store.
- Health and wellness clinics. I know that Whole Foods sometimes has seminars and clinics. Wouldn’t it be great if grocery stores had cooking classes for healthy eating?

Thanks for these examples, Maria! I think one of the best ways supermarkets can deliver great experiences is by NOT installing a self-service checkout line! When customers go through self-service, they may not have interacted with a single store employee. Wegman's Grocery Stores has made a point of not installing these machines as they don't want to lose the personal touch with their loyal customers.
