
In light of recent incidents with airline companies and their actions during delays and bad weather, some people are pushing for Congress to set federal standards for customer service.
Is this a good or bad thing?
Some believe that each airline should take each situation as it comes and not let Congress create rules on what they should or shouldn’t do, but others believe that because the airlines are all talk and no action, something must be done. It’s ridiculous to be stuck on the runway for hours at a time when customers could easily deplane and wait until it’s actually time to fly out.
It’s interesting that David Neelman, CEO of JetBlue Airlines, is against the government imposing rules on the airlines. Here’s what he said: "The best intentions can have bad consequences," said David Neeleman, cautioning that what works for one airline or at one airport might not work at others.” Read more of the news article…

I am never in favor of government getting between civilians and the businesses they use to meet their wants and needs. Regulation seldom improves anything but often makes it more expensive.
