It’s always good to be reminded of what the fundamentals are in customer service. In Darlene Zagata’s article, 5 Ways to Provide Good Customer Service, there’s one thing she mentions that we must first do when we initially come into contact with a customer: Put yourself in the customer’s place.
As you sit or stand there listening to the customer tell you their problem, just imagine yourself in that same situation. We’ve all had to be a customer - you could say that many of us are customers every day - so why not offer that same respect towards your own customers that you expect when the tables are turned?
How hard is it to be nice and helpful towards people?
