
The blog over at Bakersfield.com asks the question, How Important Is Customer Service? Well, as many of you regular readers know, customer service is very important. However, sometimes I feel like I’m banging my head against the wall when I read all these stories of bad experiences. How do we get people to understand this basic fundamental in business?
Well, as I watched Oprah’s show today about “The Secrets of My Success“, I came to the conclusion that the reason why we have such terrible service nowadays is that people are not following their dreams and doing what they love. Most people have become sucked into this idea that they have to settle for less and just do something to “get by”. After awhile they just don’t find the job fulfilling anymore - there’s no meaning to it. That’s when bitterness settles in. The majority of this bitterness can be found on the “front lines” where customer service reps are paid low wages and managers are stressed about making their numbers. Does this sound like you?
