Well, I did come across this article wherein it theorizes that employees with a stake in the company's future are more likely to hinder the growth of the company. Employees become concerned about the day-to-day affairs of the company including job security and they are more conservative about taking on projects even though it could lead to greater profitability and growth. What are your thoughts?

I don't think employee ownership works in every situation and having a stake in the company does not necessarily mean employees should literally have stock. My personal stake in the company I work for (in this case Know More Media) is connected to the positive results and quality of work produced by the team and my own personal desire to contribute to the team's excellence.
There is powerful motivation in positive reinforcement. I believe the Know More Media network and team are growing because the company leaders cultivate and encourage creativity and are constantly recognizing excellence from both their authors and staff. In this way they are made to believe they are valued, and likewise motivated to believe they have stake in the future of a company. Those who don’t feel that way tend to fall off (in any company) feeling demoralized and unappreciated.
Validation is motivation.
