Telling Lies Is An Industry in China
Do you think your customers will ever find out that you lied to them?  It’s very tempting to tell a little white lie for the sake of short-term profit, but what if your customer is Wal-Mart?  I came across this news tidbit at BusinessWeek about a Chinese company whose client is Wal-Mart.  There has been talk about sweatshop labor going on, so Wal-Mart is doing an audit to scope out the factories in China to see if there are indeed any labor violations.

The kicker is that the factory has enlisted a consulting company who basically coaches them on what to say to the auditors.  Can you believe that this type of consulting has actually grown into an industry in China!?   Whether or not the company is China is found to have an unfavorable work environment by Wal-Mart, it’ll come back to them sooner or later.

All shopkeepers are tempted to tell little (innocent?)lies just to convince you to buy their products. They often exaggerate the qualities of their merchandise, but everybody knows it, so we must learn how to recognize a lie.

Yes, we've all been tempted to tell lies to our customers - I admit I have before. However, in the long run it isn't beneficial to the business because it ends up coming back to you...
