Actualy, OSHEA requires the placement of signs directing employees to wash their hand, in most establishments. So blame them...

Yeah, I've always wondered the same thing. I mean, if you don't know that - you shouldn't be allowed out of the house anyway.
And, yes, yes, yes re the service sign. Little things like: 1. Look customer in eye; 2. Use "sir" and "mam"; 3. Acknowledge the customer is standing in front of you, even if you're busy with someone else; 3. Don't talk on your cell AND ring up the customer; 4. Don't chew gum while talking to the customer.
Methinks the bathroom sign is there more to reassure the customers than to direct the employees (but then they have people like us pointing out the absurdity).
