I walk in the door...
An employee filling the straws and napkins turns to me with a cheerful “Hi! Welcome to Starbucks! How are you today?” It isn’t a fake greeting - she looks truly happy to be at work today ;)
“Oh, I’m doing great! How are you?” I ask.
“Good! Let us know if you have any questions!”
I mull over the menu like I actually want to try something different - knowing full well I’ll probably end up with my regular - Iced mocha, light chocolate, with whip cream, please!
The cashier who takes my order is very pleasant and even the barista has time to ask me how my day is going despite the long line waiting for their drinks. “Have a great day, Maria!” he says to me as he hands me my drink.
Oh, I just loved hearing my name! What is it about hearing your name being said that puts a smile on your face?
On a sidenote, as I was writing this article, one of the employees who was sweeping the floor asked me how my day was going and was curious about what kind of work I was doing. Another reason why I love Starbucks...all the new friends that I make ;)

When entering a shop or a restaurant and the people working there know your name and use it, you feel you are really welcome there, you feel you are at home.
