Which Blog Hosting Company Has the Best Service?
Just wanted to give a shout out and congrats to one of my favorite bloggers, Stephanie Quilao of Back in Skinny Jeans.  She recently became one of Typepad's featured bloggers and she says this about them:

“One of the things that makes TypePad really beautiful to me is their customer service. Every time I have had needed help or needed an answer to a seemingly asanine question, the customer service folks at TypePad have been responsive and personable. I love that you get to interact with a real human, and nice ones to boot.”

Currently most of my blogs are hosted by Blogger, but I am considering switching services.  I’ve heard great things about TypePad.  Customers Are Always is hosted by Movable Type which has a fairly easy-to-use interface.

I’m curious to know what blog hosting company you use? Who do you think has the best service?

Actually, both Typepad and MoveableType are from the same company, SixApart. I've actually got a personal LiveJournal (also from SixApart) and am madly in love with the customer service. That's a great company and I'm pleased to have an account with them.

They are dedicated to their customers, their site development is a conversation with the users and genuinely seem to be taking an interest in the direction their users want the site to go.

Maureen,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on SixApart. After posting I realized that yes, Moveable Type and TypePad are the same company!

I've used Wordpress too, but it doesn't seem very user-friendly. Maybe I need to get used to it?

Maria,

First off; thanks for the great posts on your blog.

I use Typepad for my main blog and for another that I run also. Their customer service is consistently excellent and a pleasure to deal with. You submit your 'ticket' and I have always gotten a response within 24 hours. Added to that the blogging platform has an excellent knowledge base and overall it is user friendly with, although somewhat limited, great design choices.
I tried to use Wordpress once and recently was exploring it for my wife's blog/portfolio but from a user experience perspective its just not intuitive yet they have better design templates than Typepad.
I Can't comment on their customer service I am afraid though.

Hope that helps.

Man Maria, you are all over this webosphere aren't you? Fantastic! Thanks for the support. Another thing I have to add about why I use TypePad is that I am a non-geek, and the Queen of drag and drop.

I do not want to spend lots of time on code because that is not what I do best. I also don't need to have a fully tricked out blog but I can still do enough custom things on TP to make my blog(s) look unique. It's very easy to end up spending more time on the mechanics of your blog than actually blogging which is what bloggers should be more focused on.

I've looked at and tried almost every blog platform out there, and TypePad by far has the BEST customer service. Some web hosting companies have great customer service if you use the freebie blogging platforms but they are not necessarily experts in your particular blogging platform of choice. For me, I have a higher comfort level using the source. The folks at TypePad C.S. are warm, responsive, and especially patient if you tell them that you are non-geeky and need a bit more hand holding. It is so worth the money.
