Lessons From The Power of Nice

We’ve had a first bout of rain down here in “sunny California” and what a perfect day to hang out in the bookstore and soak up some knowledge... The first book that caught my eye today was The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World with Kindness by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval. I only read the first fifteen pages of the book, but I can tell that is a must-read book for every person in business. Here are a few quotes from the book that resonated with me:

You have to treat everyone you meet as if they are the most important person in the world - because they are. If not to you, then to someone; and if not today, then perhaps tomorrow.

Just as positive actions are like seeds, rude gestures and remarks are like germs - you may not see the impact they have on you for a while, but they are there, silently infecting you and everyone around you.

When you truly understand the full power of nice, you realize that by treating others with kindness, respect, and generosity, your actions get paid back in one way or another - with interest.

Being nice is something has to be part of your being - your essence. However, if you’re not a nice person, you can practice being nice. It will take time, but negative energy can be overcome! Just make an effort to think more positive and surround yourself with positive people. Pretty soon their energy will rub off on you ;)
