Who is a company for - not legally speaking, but philosophically? Some people say it belongs to the shareholders, others to its employees. Still others say a company exists for its customers’ sake. What do you think?
This is part of Jack & Suzy’s answer:
A company is for its shareholders. The own it. They control it. That’s the way it is and the way it should be.
I have to strongly disagree with their answer. When you say that a company is for its shareholders, you’re sending the message that it’s all about the money and how much money the shareholders can put into their pockets. This means you have lost sight of why a company was built in the first place - to help people with a need - if indeed that’s why you built it in the first place. If you’re in it strictly for the money, well, sooner or later you’ll find yourself in an unhappy position - in my opinion.
