Providing exceptional customer service can be a challenge - I’ll be the first one to tell you... However, I don’t think it’s impossible. I’m from the school of thinking that “where there is a will, there is a way”. If you truly want to be a business that is known for exceptional customer service, there is nothing that can stop you if you set your mind to it. However, you really have to want it. Do you want it?
Exceptional customer service means different things to different people. For me it means knowing my name or at least recognizing that I am a frequent customer and remembering what I have purchased previously. It means following-up with me to make sure that I am satisfied with what I have purchased. Great customer service also means communicating with me about special deals or events a business may have. Call me to say “Hi!” or send me a Birthday card... But most of all, great customer service is simply treating me as if I was your best friend.
Wow, I think I could go on and on about what great customer service means to me - if you’ve been reading this blog for quite some time now, you know that I’ve probably written the equivalent of a 300 page book on customer service! If this is your first time at this blog, welcome! Spend some time browsing the archives to find out more about what customer service means to me ;) Enjoy!

Great post, Maria! Good to see you at the Carnivale :)
You make a great point - that service is sometimes letting the customer know about great deals or discounts from which they can benefit. Sometimes a sales opportunity is good service!
