Although I’m married to Panera, I also have a love affair with Starbucks (SBUX) - as you regular readers know very well! Lately I’ve been going to different Starbucks to see if the customer service is consistent. You know how sometimes one place in a chain has great service, but you go to another store within that chain and you get crappy service? I’m sure we’ve all had those experiences. I’m not sure how the Starbucks in your particular area are, but here in San Diego I’ve found that 100% of my experiences have been excellent. ![]()
The other day I was sitting at a Starbucks in a community called Scripps Ranch, a suburb of San Diego. I was there blogging as usual, but was starting to feel really cold because of the air conditioning. Just when I was thinking that maybe I would get a hot drink (I had already ordered an iced mocha), one of the employees walks up to me and says, “I noticed that you’ve been sitting here for awhile. Would you like to try a sample of our pumpkin-spiced latte?” Well, of course!
Why I love Starbucks:
1) As the above example shows, they know how to read my mind ;)
2) Free drinks
3) Employees make me laugh. Oh, and customers do too ;)

Hey Maria! I went across to Starbucks yesterday afternoon for a break from work. Then I remembered you. :) And they have this poster inside which invites people to work for them. I like their line which goes, "Coffee makes us well known, but it's our people who make us famous." Ain't that sweet?
