On my way to a friend’s house tonight I dropped by the grocery store to pick up a couple things. It was the middle of dinner rush hour, but for some reason there were only two checkout stands open. Now, the old Maria would have been a little ticked off about this situation, but since I’ve been practicing to be more zen-ful, I took a deep breath and thought about how grateful I am to even be able to buy food....I could see that the cashier was spreading good energy, so that helped even more.
Finally it was my turn to be checked out...
“How are you doing?” the cashier asked.
“I’m doing good - how ‘bout you?”
“Oh, I’m tired, but I’m doing good!” was his reply.
“That’s good! At least you’re still smiling!” I said.
“Oh, I smile all the time. I find good in everything....”
Hmmmm...now imagine if more people found the good in everything - perhaps customer service would be better?
