I just came across this article about the fast-food restaurant, Chick-fil-A. We have a few here in San Diego, but I’ve never been into one. From what I read, looks like this company knows how to run a business. The founder, Truett Cathy, started the company about 40 years ago and it has grown it into a billion dollar success.
What makes this company so successful?
1) Cathy believes that people come before profits. Every Sunday the restaurant chain is closed to let the employees have a day of rest.
2) “...we teach our employees the importance to be kind to customers..” says Cathy.
3) Employees faithfully say “My Pleasure” when customers thank them
4) A commitment to the well-being of their employees - they offer their scholarship programs and a marriage retreat center (interesting!)
