Service In Its Purest Form During Hurricane Katrina

It’s the weekend, so for many of us that means relaxation and like we do with our customers, we are nurturing our personal relationships with friends and family. This is also a time to reflect on just how good our lives are and to be conscious of those who are less fortunate.

For those of you who don’t know, Know More Media recently launched View of Hurricane Katrina.bmpa new website called New Orleans Truth which documents in essence, what is really going and what actually happened down in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. As many people have forgotten about this tragic event (as is usual in our country), this website and the people behind it will serve as a constant reminder for us. I applaud their efforts and send them my prayers.

Not too long ago I attended an event for the I Am Foundation where the honorary guest was a young lady who survived Katrina. She worked as a nurse in one of the hospitals in New Orleans. While other staff of the hospital had escaped, this young lady stayed behind to take care of the patients who were still alive. During those long hours of waiting to be rescued, she happened to have one of the books that the I Am Foundation had published and so she read that motivational book to keep the patients entertained. Eventually they were rescued.

What is most humbling about this story is that this young woman stayed behind to help her patients instead of leaving them stranded. Her sacrifice is something that cannot be overlooked. She was there for her patients during a life and death situation and she made sure that they were well taken care of. Only someone with true selflessness and faith could have done what this courageous young lady did.  How many people do you know would do something like that?

Please help spread the news about New Orleans TruthA little effort on your part will not go unnoticed!
