
In a recent issue of Business Week, the “Competition Issue”, they found that the #1 quality that people think will most likely help one win in the business world is Self-Confidence. 66% of men and 72% of women believe that a person with self-confidence will succeed in the business world. Do you agree?
I think that it would be challenging to convince someone to buy something from you if you do lack confidence. “Ummm...” “I think so”, “I guess”, and “Maybe” are words and phrases we usually don’t like to hear when we’re conducting business. How can we trust a product or service to work if the sales person says “I guess it’s the best product for your need” or “Maybe it will work”. Or here’s another example - You ask the bank teller if your deposit will go through today.... “Umm...I think so” is the answer you receive.
People want definite answers. They want to know that you know what you’re talking about. They want the security of knowing that the technician is coming out to fix whatever is wrong. They want to know that you know your business inside and out. They will continue to support you as long as you stand behind your product. When you are confident, you exude positive energy. People are attracted to positive people.
