
We read and hear all these stories about companies that are going through cutbacks - Ford, Sun MicroSystems, and newspapers to name just a few. It can take its toll on employees morale as they wonder what’s going to happen to them. Are we next? Ultimately this can have an effect on customer service as employees no longer are focused on the customer but on their own livelihood. ![]()
So today a thought came to me...Is it possible to go through a company overhaul without firing employees and doing cutbacks? Would it be such an impossible task to say: Ok, we’re not going to do layoffs. Instead we’re going to knock the socks off our customers by offering phenomenal service. They’ll have no choice but to buy from us and we’ll be dedicated to doing this until our sales turn around. Is it possible or am I in La-La Land again? Has this ever been done in history?
