I often like to read how other cultures view customer service. Today I happened upon the blog, Days of a Kuwaiti Bank Teller, and being one who was once employed by Wells Fargo, it caught my attention.
Just a little side note and tip....When you’re dealing with people’s money, you should always smile. Oh, and never say, “Uh, oh.” I’ve seen people’s eyes pop out in horror thinking that you’ve made a mistake with their account.
So, back to Kuwait. The author makes note of a common trend:
“These days countless trainees arrive at my branch without any knowledge of the basics of customer service. Is summer making them lazy or do they really not care?”
You would think that it would be common knowledge to smile and greet your customers, but surprisingly, some people don’t know this. Why they don’t know this, I’m not sure. Shouldn’t you be smiling all the time anyways? Don’t you greet people you meet or cross paths with?
