I've always wanted to be a "food critic", so if you'll allow me to indulge in a dream for a moment, I'd like to do a review of a restaurant here in San Diego:
Restaurant: Mr. Wasabi Japanese Cafe and Sushi Bar, Mira Mesa Blvd in San Diego, CA
Prices: I visited the joint during "Happy Hour" which is Tues - Thurs from 5 - 6:30 pm. Sushi rolls start at $1, plus $1 saki drinks. Other offerings average between $7 - $11. I ordered a California roll for $2.75 and miso soup for $1.50. Not bad. My roll was tasty - one of the best California rolls I've had.
And now for the most important part...
The Service: 3 stars out of 5
I was seated and handed a menu, a pen and 2 pieces of paper with a list of food offerings. This was my first time in this restaurant, so I was somewhat confused about what to do. Although it was kindof self-explanatory - put an "x" by what items you want along and write in the quantity - it would have been nice to have an explanation.
When the waitress came over to take my order, I said, "I'm a little confused..." She interrupted with, "Would you like something to drink?" Ok, I guess my confusion was not of concern to her...
I enjoyed my food in a very comfortable atmosphere. The decor was very contemporary, there was a certain "homey" ambiance to the place, and I liked the jazzy background music. However, the waitress did not return to check on me until I was on the last bite of my sushi! By then I was ready for the check...
Hmmm...I kindof like this restaurant review thing. You may see more soon ;)
