John Gratton of Core Character has a great post about expressing
yourself to someone. In the world of customer service letting your customer know how you feel about them is the first step to building a relationship with them. This is what John says:
"One of the best ways to say something is with words. Talk to the people you work with, to the people you live with. Learn to have honest, significant conversations. Learn to express and enjoy the trivia of your days. Drop someone a note of thanks. Pick up a phone. Tell a story."
Any customer will simply appreciate a heartfelt and sincere "Thank You". They want to know that you value the relationship and they want to know that you will be there for them whenever they need what you have. And even if you just call them out of the blue just to say "Hi", they'll remember you for it!
