I was in the grocery store tonight and as I was picking out some cheddar cheese a man walked by with his little son sitting on his shoulders. The man handed the little boy something and little boy said, "Sank you!" As I walked home with groceries in tote, I heard somebody approaching behind me on the sidewalk and turned around to see a boy on a scooter coming up fast. I moved out of the way so he could pass and as he did he turned to me and said, "Thank you!"
We hear or read people talking about how customer service is declining and that we don't hear "Thank you" or "Please" that much anymore. If you have children - are you teaching them these words? It may sound cliché, but the children are our future. If we want good customer service in the future, we should be teaching these fundamentals to our children now. Customer service training doesn't begin when they get a job, it starts now.
