Today in America we celebrated our Independence Day! It was a
gorgeous day here in San Diego.... There was a carnival right across the street from my condo complex, so I walked around a bit during the day. For those of you who don't know, San Diego is home to a few military bases, so it was nothing for me to see a tank sitting on the side of the road with a sign on it that read "Freedom Is Not Free". (I'll be the first to tell you that freedom is free and a state of mind, but that's a topic best covered somewhere else.)
Anyhow, seeing that sign brought to mind all of those who are currently serving our country over in Iraq. If you ask many of them what they do, they'll tell you, "I work in the service." Regardless of what I feel about the current situation, I'm humbled when I think that there are people who are willing to give their life for a cause that they believe in.
