Companies like Boink Systems Inc., Radiant Systems Inc., and RoboServer Systems Corp. have now developed technology to put the customer in control of ordering their food at fast-food restaurants. The big chains like Taco Bell, McDonald's, Burger King, and Dairy Queen have considered adopting these systems, but haven't made any moves to incorporate them into their current operations. They don't see it as a "priority".
Well, for one thing, I'm sure that these systems are pretty expensive. I'm sure it's still much cheaper to hire a human to take orders. What's wrong with the current way that things are done anyways? A smiling human taking your order and thanking you for the business?
