Nick Rice sent me a link to this article about a Netflix experience by David Pogue of the New York Times. A good story, but what I found more interesting were the comments made by some readers...many complaints about Netflix not having a 800 number. So I visited the website and clicked on their Contact Us page. Yup, no 800 number. Plus, if you want to contact them via email, you have to "Sign In". What if you're not a member? Do you still have to sign in? Well, then I went over to Blockbuster's Contact Us link and I'm required to put in all my personal information before I can even ask a question.
Do call centers not exist with these companies anymore? I mean, phones still exist, right? Has anybody had any experience with contacting either of these companies via email?
Random trivia: Netflix, Inc.'s stock (NFLX) has gone up and down for the past three years while Blockbuster Inc.'s stock (BBI) is steadily going down...down...down... Oh, but wait, I found a number for Netflix - it's not 800, but it'll do...+1-408-540-3700

Yes, I have contacted BlockBuster numerous times. They are great to work with. I've used both phone and email and I always recieve a prompt reply. For instance, once I recieved a broken DVD in the mail. Not their fault, but I called anyway. The lady on the phone promptly said she'd send out another copy AND the next movie on my list to make up for the trouble! After 2 years of use of BB I have no complaints. The in store coupons are awesome too!
