Does cleanliness really matter to you when you shop in a store? Does it actually make a big difference? What triggered these questions was an experience at Vons Supermarket the other day. Before I walked into the store, there was all kinds of trash on the side of the store from inconsiderate customers. Then when I went into the store, the first thing I see is trash all over the floor by the cash register. For some reason this stuck in my mind. I've been to the store dozens of times and it's the closest grocery store to my house, so I doubt I'd shop anywhere else simply because of one dirty day in the store. However, what about those people who are new to the area and are shopping there for the first time?
Which brings up the question....Is there a direct correlation between a dirty store and "dirty" service?

I'm sure dirty stores impact people's interest in shopping there. Think about dirty restaurants...if you walk into a dirty restaurant, do you eat there? Not unless you were given a very very very good recommendation from someone. If you're just a "new person off the street," it's more than likely you leave cause it's dirty.
In your case the grocery store is the closest, you've had positive experiences there for a long time...but should the place start to be continuously dirty, maybe you change your mind.
And thanks for the link Maria!
