I'm browsing through a business magazine and come upon this ad by Ford that depicts men at work using their Ford trucks. A caption reads, "Somebody please pass a law prohibiting guys with desk jobs from using the phrase, 'Tough Day at Work'"
This thought can also apply to those of us who work in customer service - don't you agree? I've had people say to me, "Well, how hard can customer service be? You just talk to people all day." Ahem. Yes, people in customer service do talk to people all day, but it's a mentally straining position to be in. Even those days that I didn't do much
physically, I was challenged mentally by customers who wanted to suck all that energy out of you! People working on the front lines know what I'm talking about!
With that said, I'd like to thank those of you who work so hard and manage to stay positive, keep smiling, and continue to have that passion for their work despite all the pressure and chaos that goes with the territory. And for those of you who still continue to complain about their job, read this post: Advice For Those Who Hate Their Customer Service Job
Customer service easy? Well, on second thought, it is easy if you love what you do!

The irony is, Ford's call center subsidary, Percepta runs employees through the gauntlet so fast that temp agencies have to be called to fill up all the people that get tossed out. If you're pregnant and a Ford customer service rep, calling in sick due to pregnancy complications will get you fired. No consideration at all. Please, driving a truck and doing construction is a walk in the park compared to working in a Ford call center.
