
Awhile ago at TheRunwayScoop I strongly recommended not purchasing clothing on a credit card due to some of the high interest rates. What you may think is a great deal at $19.99 in the long run may actually end up costing you $40 because of interest.
And if you can help it, don't let all those "great deals" like 10% off the first purchase or free gift cards entice you to sign up for a credit card you don't really need. A USA Today article talks about the ways that retailers get you to use their card:
"It would be a disservice to tell people to load up their wallets," says Mallory Duncan, NRF's general counsel and senior vice president. "People should balance their entire card portfolio carefully. Only take cards with genuine value to you as a customer."1
